Jazz Groove Live Fantasy

July 30, 2014 By Andy Trigg Leave a Comment

I love working in totally different genres. This is an experiment to see if I can write and produce a piece of music with a laid back jazz feel. I play all music myself on keyboards, with percussion created in midi and keyboard too. I ended up making it a “live” performance with efforts to have many of the instruments quite lazy and not necessarily a perfect “studio” performance – more like how a decent live gig might go. The whole piece was created around the bass line, which as with a lot of my music came first.

I spent a lot of time and practice trying to make the brass and wind instruments sound authentic and to give a feel of a chilled out band playing live.

Here We Go Now – Ballroom / Spaghetti Western mix

March 29, 2013 By Andy Trigg 1 Comment

This is a reworking and remix of the quirky OK Cafe track by Mick Briers and me with lots of new bits and a complete remix. We removed all vocals apart from the “Here we go now” sections and created an almost “ballroom” remix that they could dance to on Strictly Come Dancing.

We thought an instrumental version of OK Cafe could be useful to be used for a voice over, advert or film so embarked on the project but ended up spending adding a lot more tracks. It’s fully orchestrated with a few weird instruments like sitar, and Jew’s Harp. Its got the following flavours mixed in – Ball room, Tango, Reggae, James Last, Ennio Morricone, Austin Powers, Beatles, 60s …

This is the original with lyrics and different instruments, OK Cafe was originally done by Me Mick and Bri Littlehales.

Start Believing (unfinished demo)

December 28, 2012 By Andy Trigg Leave a Comment

This is another work in progress. It’s a bit unusual so I don’t quite know what to do with it yet. It’s currently an instrumental featuring an audio clip from an old 50s film but if I can find a singer or rapper to put something on it I can drop the sample if it no longer fits.

It starts off dark and menacing but gets funky and even has a little carnival bit. I need to work on it more but won’t until I get someone to sing or rap on it. It just occasionally has a slightly rushed feel and needs the groove getting back in line but not much.

I’ve got loads of things in this one, synths, funky guitar, xylophone, brass section, wah wah guitar, funky bass, slap bass… I’ve used 5 bass tracks and mixed acoustic drums with all sorts of electronic kits and sounds.

I play everything except the wah wah guitar (Mick Briers) and funky & lead guitar (Bri Littlehales)

I think some rap would really suit this track – any one?

Could you rap to this track?

OK Cafe

July 10, 2011 By Andy Trigg 5 Comments

OK Cafe has been played on BBC Radio

This song has been broadcast on BBC Radio This song has a retro feel, it’s quirky and dancy. It makes me want to do silly dances such as in Austin Powers The Spy Who Shagged Me. I can see mini-skirted girls with long sexy boots doing those great 60s dance moves to it.

Originally a Mick Brears composition, produced and played by Snowdune, Mick and Bri Littlehales, it was inspired by an actual cafe in Sheffield (OKeh Cafe) frequented by Mods.

OK Cafe has now been played twice on BBC Radio Sheffield evening show which features, “the best unsigned bands”. First time they opened up the show with it and second time they opened up the second half of the show with it.

OK Cafe has also been listed on the Getty Images music library for potential licencing in films or ads
