Dancing With Angels Feat. Rob Dowling

November 30, 2013 By Andy Trigg Leave a Comment

I heard a demo of this song by Rob Dowling with just him and a guitar. I really liked the song right from the first listen. I felt it was so sincere and heartfelt and asked Rob if I could produce a new version. I’ve been working on this one on and off for 3 or 4 months with help from Bri Littlehales who also plays guitars.

I’ve tried to keep it subtle and free from cliche, rearranging the song in two places, adding all the percussion, a fretless bass, strings, saxophone, flute, and several other instruments. Bri plays 12 string guitar and a bit of electric guitar lead and has helped a lot in mixing, and with the drums and strings. Rob gave a very sincere vocal performance, which still occasionally chokes me up in places.

Please try to listen a few times – the slow ones need time to grow. Rob wrote this song after a breakup with his partner resulted in his beloved children living with their mother. The lyrics and delivery are wonderful.

Update: Dec 2014 – Sadly Rob, the writer and singer on this track has now passed away. We will never finish the other songs we’d started working on together but I was lucky to have spent some time working with him before his illness. RIP Rob (Dingo). I’ve now converted it to MP3 and enabled downloads for anyone wanting a copy. Click the small download icon top right to download an MP3 copy of this song

Lyrics

In the cold light of day
love’s just a phone call away
If you need someone to talk to
I’m always there for you

And I know you’re safe from harm
safe in your mothers arms
If you need someone to hold you
she’s always there for you

Close your eyes, turn out the light
Close your eyes and I’m with you tonight

For in my dreams you’re by my side
We’re dancing with angels
In heaven’s skies on wings of pride
Dancing with angels
dancing with angels
dancing with angels

I had to go away
I’m sorry I just couldn’t stay
but my love for you grows stronger
with each and every day

And I know you’re safe from harm
safe in your mothers arms
If you need someone to hold you
she’s always there for you

Close your eyes, turn out the light
Close your eyes and I’m with you tonight

For in my dreams you’re by my side
dancing with angels
In heaven’s skies on wings of pride
Dancing with angels
dancing with angels
dancing with angels

Together, dancing with angels
together, dancing with angels
forever, dancing with angels together
dancing with angels
dancing with angels
dancing with angels
dancing with angels

Here We Go Now – Ballroom / Spaghetti Western mix

March 29, 2013 By Andy Trigg 1 Comment

This is a reworking and remix of the quirky OK Cafe track by Mick Briers and me with lots of new bits and a complete remix. We removed all vocals apart from the “Here we go now” sections and created an almost “ballroom” remix that they could dance to on Strictly Come Dancing.

We thought an instrumental version of OK Cafe could be useful to be used for a voice over, advert or film so embarked on the project but ended up spending adding a lot more tracks. It’s fully orchestrated with a few weird instruments like sitar, and Jew’s Harp. Its got the following flavours mixed in – Ball room, Tango, Reggae, James Last, Ennio Morricone, Austin Powers, Beatles, 60s …

This is the original with lyrics and different instruments, OK Cafe was originally done by Me Mick and Bri Littlehales.

OK Cafe

July 10, 2011 By Andy Trigg 5 Comments

OK Cafe has been played on BBC Radio

This song has been broadcast on BBC Radio This song has a retro feel, it’s quirky and dancy. It makes me want to do silly dances such as in Austin Powers The Spy Who Shagged Me. I can see mini-skirted girls with long sexy boots doing those great 60s dance moves to it.

Originally a Mick Brears composition, produced and played by Snowdune, Mick and Bri Littlehales, it was inspired by an actual cafe in Sheffield (OKeh Cafe) frequented by Mods.

OK Cafe has now been played twice on BBC Radio Sheffield evening show which features, “the best unsigned bands”. First time they opened up the show with it and second time they opened up the second half of the show with it.

OK Cafe has also been listed on the Getty Images music library for potential licencing in films or ads
